TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS OF LITHUANIA, LATVIA AND ESTONIA Installed generating capacity 11 GW

CONCLUSIONS CEE Region combines countries being a new members of EU and countries being just before accession in Most of these countries were connected to UCTE synchronous area many years before their formal accession that in general confirms relatively high technical level of their electrical power sectors and in particular their transmission networks. Transmission infrastructure of many countries of the CEE Region, expecially 400 kV network, is inadeqately developt and requires significant investments, within a period of coming 10 – 15 years, for internal technical improvement of the systems and theirs interconnection to neighboring UCTE and UPS/IPS countries, Countries like PL, H, SK and RO located at the border of the UCTE synchronous area are already or will be connected to UPS/IPS countries by radial, island areas or by back to back stations. Since significant increase in generating capacity is not assumed in the next 10 years, the security of electric energy supply within the CEE Region is directly related to development of power transmission infrastructure.
