All courses: regulated under Ontario Regulation 184/97 accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers will be entered on the candidate’s certificate of qualification degree credit courses count toward Advanced Bachelor’s Degree in Education may count for pay grid movement

Additional Basic Qualifications Additional Basic Qualification courses are courses that lead to qualification in a division beyond the two that are part of your BEd program – Primary ABQ – Junior ABQ – Intermediate ABQ (various teachable electives) – Senior ABQ (various teachable electives)

Additional Qualification Courses Focus in on specific areas to expand on qualifications One session and Three-session courses Three-session courses lead to specialist designation (e.g., Special Education, ESL, FSL, Guidance, Cooperative Education, Visual Arts, Reading, etc.)

Teachable Subject Requirements - Intermediate Intermediate ABQ -requires three full undergraduate courses in one teachable subject Course has a Core (Methods) and Elective (Teachable) component Required to check your teachable eligibility with the Office of the Registrar before registering

Teachable Subject Requirements - Senior Senior ABQ requires five full undergraduate courses in one teachable subject Only one teachable required for Senior ABQ Course has core component and teachable elective component If you wish to get a second teachable, three full undergraduate courses are required in the second teachable subject area – have to take the full course again (i.e., must repeat the core) Required to check your teachable eligibility with the Office of the Registrar before registering

Fees Provide your credit card information when registering on-line, or If paying by cheque or cash, fees must be paid to the Finance Office within two days of registration $895 per course – payable at time of registration

Reporting Course Results Grade available on WebAdvisor University Transcript sent to you Reported by university to OCT in late August Not recorded on first certificate issued by college Will appear on public register in September/October and on subsequent certificates Must complete the application process and be an OCT member (with certificate in hand) to record your course
