Name the following tools Block Plane Used in joinery work, smaller applications

Shifting Spanner Multi – purpose spanner, comes in various sizes.

Mortise Chisel Used for extra heavy work, firm driving. Mortise & Tennon joints in joinery

Claw Hammer The most used hammer by carpenters All general purpose applications

Veneer saw Special purpose applications, veneer board products

Smoothing Plane Used prior to sanding, to remove fine shavings and other plane marks

Combination square General purpose carpenters square, can be used at both 90º and at 45º.

Butt chisel A much shorter chisel, for letting in hinges and similar work.

Coping saw Used for curved work, thinner boards etc.

G – Clamps Used in a variety of sizes to hold work in place.

German Jack Plane Less frequently used now, but this plane is for reducing rough sawn timer to its approximate size and shape.

Gouges Special shaped chisel, curved in cross section. Used for turning and carving
