CAPE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Unit 1: Module 1 Objectives 7 & 8 identify ways of representing data and information; discuss various types of information sources;

Data Representation Character String Numeric Aural Visual Letter or symbol E.g. –letters of the alphabet, String An array of characters E.g. a persons name Numeric Integers, Reals, etc. Aural Pertaining to hearing e.g. Morse Code, Musical Notes Visual e.g. fingerprints Musical Symbols and Notation E.g. Clefts, etc.

Information Representation Text Any sensible arrangement of characters and strings E.g. a letter Graphics Logos, paintings, etc. Sound Musical representation, structure give to musical notes Video Special Purpose Notations Graphical Representations NOTE: Many of these representation are intertwined and intermingled to give greater detail to what is being presented
