A PEP TALK 

QUESTIONS?  Can we work with partners? No – everyone will investigate their own passion.  How long do we have? Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday until May  Is this going to be graded?  Do you really mean we can learn about anything? Anything that is legal and school appropriate  Do you have to present to the class? Yes, you will present a TED-talk type of presentation.

IDEAS  How to throw a perfect spiral with a football.  Write my own song on the guitar/piano/tuba etc…  Learn how to play a musical instrument  Learn about wildlife of Galapagos IslandsGalapagos Islands  Write a children’s book  Paint a self-portrait  Research how the different parts of the brain work.  Create an app for my phone  Create a website for my church  Research about black holes  Learn more about the causes of World War II  Find out how planes fly  Perfect a Butter Flip on the skateboard  Research solar panels to place on camper  Promote awareness for a charity or organizationorganization

WHY?

20% TIME  Google allows their employers to spend 20 percent of their work time (and resources) on a personal interest project.  The idea is to give their employees more autonomy in their work environment and foster more motivation/inspiration for creative work.  Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa, and Google Doodles are all products of this time.
