What is Trex?

Trex is a wood and plastic composite decking material, made primarily from equal parts reclaimed hardwood sawdust and reclaimed/recycled polyethylene plastic such as grocery sacks and stretch film. A “Green” Decking Material

What are the benefits?

Trex is a “ green building material ”. The plastic shields the wood from moisture and insect damage. The wood in the product protects the plastic from UV damage and provides additional stability and traction. Eliminates need for costly and time-consuming sealing, staining, or replacing damaged deck boards. Impervious to damage caused by environmental factors.

Disadvantages? Cost: Trex - $1.64/ft Cedar - $1.26/ft Pressure Treated - $0.64/ft *Content and Photographs adapted from, CedarPressure Treated
