H1N1 Flu – WHO Statement H1N1 is a new virus and humankind does not have herd immunity against it and hence the rapid spread In tropical countries like India there is propensity towards flu epidemics in monsoon season due to high humidity, cooler temperatures and indoor crowding of people WHO has said… H1N1 Influenza pandemic can’t be stopped now! No need to count the cases. Two billion people will get infected over a period of next two years All efforts are diverted towards making safe vaccine available at the earliest, ensuring adequate testing and treatment facility and making people aware

A person with respiratory symptoms and fever (1) within seven days of close contact with a person who is a confirmed case of H1N1 Flu (2) Within seven days of travel to community where there are confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu (3) who resides in a community where there are confirmed case of H1N1 Flu Who is a close contact? Anyone who comes within three feet of a confirmed case and remains there for at least an hour What is the treatment? The treatment for a confirmed case is isolation and Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) tablets.
