Year 4 residential trip to Barton Camp 30 th Sept – 2 nd October 2015

Location

Activities Activities will include: Nature trail, natural art activities, sports in sports hall, walk in the woods, team games, orienteering, swimming, football, den building. Children will be kept together for most of the time but will be split into groups of 8 for some activities.

Sleeping arrangements Girls room- 24 beds (grouped into 2s, 3s, or 4s) Boys room- 24 beds (grouped into 2s, 3s, or 4s) Extra smaller rooms each sleeping 2-6 children. All within 10 metres of staff bedroom.

Food Children will need to have breakfast at home and packed lunch on Wednesday All other meals provided by a catering agency and will be agreed before we go. Last year was roast chicken, fish and chips and hot puddings. All children will be offered a hot/cold drink and biscuit before they go to bed. Cooked breakfast, as well as selection of cereals, fruit juice, yogurt and toast.

Safety Safety travelling Safety on coach- We expect all children to behave well on the coach. If your child is travel sick, please give their medication before you arrive at school and give our designated first aider (TBC) their tablets in a named envelope for the return journey. Safety on site Swimming pool- we are hoping to use the pool this year. It is fenced off and children will only be allowed in with a small group and fully supervised by a trained lifeguards. FIRST AID- we will have full first aid kits on site and when we go on any walks. Risk assessments- all done fully by staff before we go All buildings are locked using a keypad entry system Ratio of staff to children 1:10

Medical needs Nearest hospital is Weston General – permanent transport on site for emergencies A teacher will accompany if further medical assistance is required and will inform parents in the first instance and will keep them informed during the duration of the emergency/medical attention Parents will be informed in the first instance as a precaution or for advice A medical form must be completed with ALL medical information in detail and up to date contact information. Please ALSO speak personally to our designated first aider (TBC) nearer the time regarding more complex medical information as they will be the members of staff who are in charge of medical arrangements. Bed wetting, sleep walking or other behaviours aren’t a problem, but please inform us so we can be prepared. Please speak to your child’s teacher regarding these issues if you believe them to be even of slight concern.

Contact numbers The school will operate the texting system to be used to contact parents with regards to important information about the trip e.g. return time to school. Please ensure you have provided school with an up to date telephone number where you can be contacted at any time.

Timings The expected departure time from Christ Church will be 10:30AM on Wednesday 30 th September. On return, it is expected that we will arrive back in school at approximately 12:30pm. Timings for collect TBC in consultation with parents/Mr Wilkinson After school club – please let them know that your child will have luggage with them.

Payment Total cost will be approx £65 (dependent on catering and coaches). Permission letter will be sent out before Easter. Please return with £15 deposit by Friday 6 th March. Office will use a payment card system- the remaining balance can be paid in instalments or full, directly to the office by July 3rd. Any difficulties please see Mr Wilkinson ASAP.

Kit! A full kit list will be sent out after Easter. No special equipment should be needed. Wellies/walking boots Old clothes Sleeping bag and pillow 1 Bag, 1 bin liner with bedding, 1 small rucksack with packed lunch. ALL NAMED
