 San José is the Capital of Costa Rica. It was founded in 1563 by a Spanish Governor named Juan Vasquez de Coronado.  So far it is to be known as the oldest city in Costa Rica and was the official Capital until  San José is home to 1/3 of Costa Rica’s population and its in the center of the country.

 Costa Rica is located in central America where it borders both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. It sits in between Panama and Nicaragua. Costa Rica

 Costa Rica became a part of the kingdom of Guatemala under the Spanish Rule in the late 1500’s ( ).  Every year the people of Costa Rica celebrate Independence Day ever since their freedom from the Spanish Rule in the early 1820’s.

 The flag of Costa Rica was officially adopted in 1848 on September 29 th.  The blue and white are the original colors used by the United Provinces of Central America.  The combined red, white and blue are modeled after the colors of the French Tricolore.  The country's coat of arms is found on the red panel and the three volcanoes in the country are featured.

 There are more than 121 volcanic formations in Costa Rica, and seven of them are active.  There are 800 miles of coastline in Costa Rica between the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.  More than 25% of Costa Rica’s land is dedicated to national parks, reserves and wildlife refuges. There are more than 100 different protected areas to visit.

 The most common activities in Costa Rica for tourists are,  Canopy tours: soar hundreds of feet above the treetops  Wildlife Watching: Costa Rica's diverse ecosystems are home to more than 500,000 animal species.  Snorkeling & Diving: Over 7,000 marine species – 3.5% of the world’s aquatic life – delight underwater explorers.

 Costa Ricans are known for their gregarious and fun-loving nature.  It’s contagious during the numerous fiestas, horse parades and carnivals celebrated throughout the country.  These festivities provide a great opportunity to sample tasty food, make new friends, and learn the local traditions of this fascinating country.

 Yes, I would visit Costa Rica because there are so many exotic and beautiful places to explore. There are many different species of wildlife that I would love to see in their own natural habits and I would also love to try their amazing looking foods! Filet of fish
