  A global network which is able to connect to the millions of computers around the world.  Their connectivity makes it easier in terms of communication, and online services.  Many tasks can be done through the Internet, thus making several jobs easier. Such as online banking, shopping, research, social networking.  This could also be considered as e- commerce. What is the Internet?

  Nobody really owns the internet. However there are several protocols (W3G in Geneva).  They are set up by many different organizations, who upload their work and resources which adds up to the collection of web pages.  Therefore, builds up the Internet, making it what is it. Who owns the Internet?

  There are various ways on connecting the Internet in modern times due to the advancement of technology.  One method could be the use of an Ethernet cable, or a wireless router which can enable a limited amount of computers to be connected in a certain area.  The next step would be having web browsers such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer which then leads you to search engines, like Google or Yahoo. How do you connect to the Internet?

  TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol.  These protocols, developed by the U.S Military, were used for long distance networks.  TCP refers to the verifying delivery of packets, whereas IP refers to the moving of data packets through nodes.  TCP/IP software is hugely built in major organizations like Microsoft. TCP/IP

  WWW stands for World Wide Web.  It is a collection of Internet resources/ pages which consist of  Hyperlinks  Audio files  Videos  Images  Information/data  They are one of the most common beginnings of every website address. WWW

  Internet address, also known as an IP address, is a numeric label given to any device in a computer network.  It also uniquely identifies a node on the Internet.  Internet Addresses have two main functions; network interface identification and location addressing. Internet Address

  URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.  This is used to identify the address of a web page, image, document etc. on the Internet.  A web address contains information which is the;  Access protocol  Domain name  File/resource path. Web Address or URLs

  Surfing the web is another term used for simply “browsing on the Internet.”  It is used when someone is merely searching for information online, as well. Surfing the Web

  Directory services is the software where information is stored, organized and provided in a directory.  It is quite easy to find information as it collects all resources on a network, which is accessible by users.  Something else which makes it easy to find information is that the it is not essential for the user to know the topology and protocols. Information can be accessed easily, even without the knowledge of the topologies and protocols. Finding information using Directory services

  Using a web address to find information is quite straight forward.  One particular web address is allocated to a specific web page, so a web page accessible and can be found fairly easily.  However, one error on a web address to find information, can direct you to an entirely different web page, or an invalid one. Finding information using a Web Address

  A search engine is the most common and basic method of finding information around the Internet.  The search terms you type in can give you a variety of web pages and choices, which are all relevant and suitable for your research.  Search engines help you find information, images, latest news etc.  They are also considered as Boolean operators. Finding information using a Search Engine

 SEARCH TERMS  Search terms are either words or phrases used to specify your search on the Internet.  They help you find relevant information on suitable websites. ADVANCED SEARCH SYNTAX  Advanced Search Syntax is used to help users to better define and narrow down their searches.  This is to ensure that the result of web pages are appropriate. Searching the web using keywords

  Web bots are software applications which run automated tasks over the Internet.  They are largely used in web spidering.  This is when bots go over the Internet and gather information and content for a user. Finding information using a Web Bot
