A global network which is able to connect to the millions of computers around the world. Their connectivity makes it easier in terms of communication, and online services. Many tasks can be done through the Internet, thus making several jobs easier. Such as online banking, shopping, research, social networking. This could also be considered as e- commerce. What is the Internet?
Nobody really owns the internet. However there are several protocols (W3G in Geneva). They are set up by many different organizations, who upload their work and resources which adds up to the collection of web pages. Therefore, builds up the Internet, making it what is it. Who owns the Internet?
There are various ways on connecting the Internet in modern times due to the advancement of technology. One method could be the use of an Ethernet cable, or a wireless router which can enable a limited amount of computers to be connected in a certain area. The next step would be having web browsers such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer which then leads you to search engines, like Google or Yahoo. How do you connect to the Internet?
TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. These protocols, developed by the U.S Military, were used for long distance networks. Directory services is the software where information is stored, organized and provided in a directory. It is quite easy to find information as it collects all resources on a network, which is accessible by users. Something else which makes it easy to find information is that the it is not essential for the user to know the topology and protocols.
