Product Analysis The cover of this CD cover is quite a simple design made to reflect the artists style of music in the album cover. 'Lady Gaga' has used a photographic image of herself in black and white for the front of her CD cover. The image used of the artist is a close up serious image. The smudged dark makeup around her eyes could imply her music is going to be serious, dark and emotional. The only text on the CD cover is the artist name and the album name styled in a computerised block white font. The 'T' in monster is a cross. Perhaps this is to indicate some of her music will link into religion. The artists hair covers one of her eyes obscuring her face. This is a running theme through the artists CD covers. It seems it has been done to hide her identity. The target market for the CD cover is anyone ranging from the age of The CD cover is made from think card so it can be recycled. The CD costs £5 to buy from stores or via the internet. I think the CD does a good job at persuading the public to purchase the CD as it is a dark mysterious cover which intrigues the public to buy the CD so as they can find out what the music is like. This CD cover design is quite a complex design. The images on the cover are models made from paper. The images have then been photographed. The only text on the CD cover is a hand written childlike purple colour. There is no image of the band on the CD cover so the band name is placed at the tope of the design to make it clear who's album it is. It is colourful and abstract implying the style of the music will be the same. The CD cover has a unique individual style reflecting the unique style of the music. All of the models are random objects with no relevance to each other. This could also reflect the randomness in the bands album. The design of this cover indicates the audience would be anyone from the age of The cover is made from a thick glossy paper which means it can be recycled. The RRP price for this CD is £10.97 and can be bought in any large music store or most online music websites. I think the CD cover design does a good job at achieving its purpose as it is bright, fun and colourful, making it appealing to the public making them want to purchase the album. This CD cover is a simple design. It is a photograph of the artist with a handwritten signature style of writing below. The writing reads 'Taylor Swift' and 'Speak Now'. This is the artists name and album name. There isn't much colour used in the cover however the colours that are used are bright colours. The bright purple and yellow colours used have connotations for the public of happy and fun times, suggesting that may be the style of music the artists produces. The colours purple and yellow are also contrasting colours so they stand out a lot more. The background of the image is just a plain white simple background. This implies her music is quite simple. The artists expression is serious which suggests to the public that she is very serious about her career. This design is very blunt and straight to the point and gets across to the public exactly what this artist is about. The design of the CD case indicates that the target market for this CD cover is for teenage girls from the age of The CD cover is made from a thick card which could be recycled. The CD costs £11.97 to buy from a shop or to buy online. I think the cover is successful at its function because it is appealing to the public and the target audience of teenage girls. The image of the artist is big enough to be seen from a distance so people know who the album belongs to before they read their name. Album CoversBand Logos This logo is very basic buy effective. It is designed to look like a symbol because it is so simple. It is a computerised image of a mouth with a tongue using 3 simple block colours, white, black and red. It is an eye catching logo because of it's bright red colouring. There is no text on the logo, perhaps the creator/designer did this because the band are so well known they are instantly recognised by their logo and do not need any text to show who they are. The lead vocalists mouth and lips were the most dominant feature on his face and this is reflected in the logo. The style of the logo reflects the rock and roll style of the music the band produces. This logo is quiet a colourful and complex design. The logo is two guns facing outwards both wrapped in a rose inside a circle that is inside another circle. In the outer yellow colour circle the band name 'Guns N Roses' is written in a computerised brown western font which matched with the theme of the wild west guns. The logo is a literal picture of the band name, the inner circle is a metal effect silver colour. The guns are silver with a black handle and the roses are red with green leaves and stems. The logo is interesting because it contrasts the negative harmful image of the guns with the beautiful natural image of the roses. Perhaps this suggests to the reader that the music will be soft and beautiful with a rock twist. This logo is a hand drawn tattoo style logo. The tattoo element of the logo shows the bands like for tattoos and suggests to the public the band music will be a rock style. The logo is a heart with a cross plunged through the middle, there are wings peering out from behind the cross. There is a sash across the middle of the heart with 'Bon Jovi', the band name, written across it with purple flowers behind it. The colours used are quite soft pastel colours implying there maybe a soft gentle twist to the typical rock band. The flowers symbolise the beauty of the bands music. The cross may reflect the bands religion and it stabbed into the heart which could show that they are really passionate about religion. This logo is a very simple design. It is just text with no image. The font is serif and the text reads 'The Beatles'. The simplicity of the logo suggests to the public that the band produce serious simple music because there is no image or expression used. The capital 'B' and the dropped down 'T' was designed to emphasise the word 'beat' in 'Beatles'. The logo isn't very eye catching as only one colour is used, black. However the logo is straight to the point, letting you know instantly who they are. Perhaps the simple design is to show how serious the band take their careers.
