Presentation transcript:

I remember when I was 18, in my high school concert choir and the hallelujah chorus, became our choirs’ favorite song. I have many fond memories of how much we enjoyed singing it. We sang it downtown at the assembly hall in temple square that year. And at different lds churches, for their sacrament meetings. Our choir even loved the song so much that we sang it at a competition later that same spring we sang it all the time, because we loved it so much and we were good at it. My favorite part in is when (my part) the sopranos sings lord of lords, which is the length of about 2 strong whole notes. I also enjoyed it when people stood up for us. Photo: taken from

The Hallelujah chorus is an excerpt taken from the “Messiah” an oratorio (a religious work, not a symphony) written by George Frederick Handel. “THE MESSIAH, Händel’s most successful and best-known oratorio, was composed in the year 1741 in twenty-four days, from August the 22d to September the 14 th. It was first performed at a concert given for charitable purposes at Dublin, Ireland, on April the 13 th, 1742, Händel conducting the performance in person. According to historical evidence, Händel know that the Dublin orchestral and choral resources were by no means on par with those of London and was markedly influenced by this circumstance in the composition of his work. “…..
