Minorca is the crib of the Talayotic culture, a culture which originated in Majorca and Minorca at the end of the second century AC. Its name comes from the talayots, watch towers that became the most popular type of construction during this period in history. Many people travel to Minorca to look at the prehistoric remains and there isn’t a school on the island which doesn’t include the Talayotic culture on its curriculum. Let us introduce you to the most famous remains. *PREHISTORIC MINORCA* *WHAT DO VISIT* CIUDADELAFORNELLSMONTE TOROLA MOLA COVA DEN XOROI MAHON CALAS FONS

*CUSTOMS* Minorca has its own breed of horses, the Minorcan horse. Their existence is long-standing and is an example of how a breed has been preserved over the centuries. To talk about Minorca is to talk about horses and the passion that the inhabitants of the island have for them. The festivities in Minorca are linked to horses, a legacy of its Moorish past. The so-called “Jaleos”, consist of people trying to lift up the horses (plus the rider) and keeping them upright doing caballitos (carousels). Both the riders and the horses are dressed for the occasion, their clothing is one of the most attractive parts of the festivities. The Cami de Cavalls (Way of Horses) is an ancient path which encircles Minorca, faithfully following the confines of the island over many kilometres. It is therefore not only a path that goes around the island, but is literally the island itself, the shape of its limitations and finiteness. It is steeped in legend. Its origins are uncertain and could date back to the cavalry, the system in charge of the island’s defence in the 14th Century approximately. *CAMI DE CAVALLS*
