QUESTION 1.What battery is the best value? 2.How much longer lasting are LED flashlights then incandescent flashlights? 3.What is the difference in performance between lithium and alkaline batteries?

HYPOTHESIS 1.I expect Duracell alkaline batteries to be the best value because they have a much lower price than the energizer lithium, but I think are more reliable then generic alkaline batteries. 2.I expect an LED flashlight will last about 50% longer on average than a regular flashlight while at the same time being brighter. 3.I expect a lithium battery will last about twice as long as an alkaline battery.

MATERIALS Stopwatch, Duracell Light-Emitting- Diode Flashlight, Duracell incandescent Flashlight, Mini-Fan, Generic Alkaline AA Batteries, Duracell Alkaline AA Batteries, Energizer Lithium AA Batteries

PROCEDURE 1.Inset two generic alkaline batteries into the LED Flashlight, the Incandescent Flashlight and Fan. 2.With help from a partner, turn on LED, Flashlight and Fan all at the same time and start stopwatch. 3.Watch carefully and record time on stopwatch that the Fan, LED and Flashlight go out. 4.Repeat steps one through three with Duracell batteries. 5.Repeat steps one through three with lithium batteries. 6.Repeat steps one through five to verify results.

CONCLUSION 1.Although the testing has not finished, the Lithium Energizer AA battery has been the best value 2.On average, the LED flashlight lasted about twenty times longer than the regular flashlight. 3.So far, the lithium batteries have lasted about 50% longer than alkaline batteries.
