 Squares and Square Roots Calculator Skills For TI30XIIS

What is a Squared Number?  A squared number is any number multiplied by itself.  Example 2 x 2 = 4. Therefore 2 squared = 4  That is all there is to it. Take any number and multiply it by itself.  3 squared = 99

What is a Squared Number?  4 squared =  16  5 squared =  25  6 squared =  36. That’s all there is to it.

How Do We Do This On the Calculator?  1 st Enter the number.  Push the X2 button.  Hit =  Try it. Enter the number 2.5  Push X2 and =. What did you get?  GREAT

What About Square Roots?  Finding a square root is the inverse of squaring a number. In other words, what two of the same number equal the result?

What About Square Roots?  Let’s try some.  What is the √9 33  What is √49 77  Got it?

How Do We Do This On the Calculator?  What is the 2 nd function button and what does it do?  The 2 nd function button is like a shift key and your computer. It enables the function directly ABOVE the button.

Find Square Root on Your Calculator Push 2 nd Function and look for 2 nd on the Screen Push X2 Button With √ Above It
