 The children's wish foundation, began in 1994 by a volunteer named Laura Cole  There are only 5 paid staff members who work with the children's wish foundation. The excitement of planning their dream, has a dramatic effect on their healing. It gives them hope as they see light at the end of the tunnel.

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)  Q: How do children qualify for a wish?  A: Any child living in Canada between the ages of 3-17 who has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness qualifies for a wish. The illness must be verified by the child's treating physician.  Q: How are children referred for wishes?  A: Most referrals come from parents, family, family members or doctors nurses, and social workers. Referrals can also come from child life specialists, friends, the potential wish child, teachers, and other wish families.  Q: What are the most popular request?  A: The most popular wishes included traveling, entertainment centers, computer systems, and meeting celebrities.  Q: How long is your waiting list?  A: They have no waiting list they are ready to grant a wish as soon as a medial approval is received. Most wishes take a few weeks to arrange. However, in an emergency situation they can fulfill a wish in a matter of days.
