 You must repair oil rigs, pipe lines that carry oil. You have to be very precise and careful doing this. You build drilling platforms and oil rigs. Also you repair boats, docks and bridges. You need to know what you are doing because the lives of people are in your hands. Also a lot of people are relying on you to keep there companies safe by not having faulty equipment. Essentially you are either building or repairing items in the water.

Underwater welders do a lot of different things in there field of work. They repair bridges, oil rigs, boats using hand tools and other equipment. They must cut and weld steel and other materials using underwater welding equipment like tigs or plasma cutters and a lot of other tools. Also they check and maintain the infrastructure of the bridges and tunnels of the united states. You check and maintain your own equipment like your helmet, diving gear and gauges.

 All you really need is to go to a trade school or somewhere like that and learn how to weld and become certified and show that you know how to weld. You need to show that you actually know what you are doing and are able to do it. After doing this you become certified and are able to work. You must keep your certifications up to date. To do underwater welding you need to get your commercial diving certificate.

 Underwater welders earn an average of roughly $160,000 per year  But you have to understand it all depends on your experience and how long you have been working and your area.

 The job outlook for underwater welding is excellent. There will always be a need for welders and defiantly underwater welders.
