Independent Novel Unit: Day 2 Class Work: Watch quick video on citation Read Mrs. A’s example Begin your own research using my research guideHomework: Read your novel – first quiz will be Monday!! Finish research! Upload to Edmodo.

How do I do it? Incorporate ALL THREE kinds of writing into one paragraph. EVERYTIME you reference a piece of writing, put the information in (parenthesis) after it. If it is summarized, paraphrased, or quoted, it MUST have a citation. This is absolute.

The Recommendations Find good websites – reliable (from strong organizations, few if any advertisements, author or organization present) Read through the website quickly to make sure it is good. Go to easybib.com to cite source Copy and paste the link Fill in any information they miss Copy and paste Works Cited link into a Word Document Go to website and copy and paste document below your Works Cited page.

The Recommendations Finish finding websites (minimum of three). Go to document with data (be sure it is saved on H: drive and another place), highlight most USEFUL information for a 2-3 paragraph author biography. BE SELECTIVE. Open another document and begin typing your introduction. Cite each piece of information as you go (see my video for more details).

Final Reminders Frequently check my sample and your guidelines. Upload it to SharePoint AND Edmodo AND your H: Drive or flash drive. It counts as a 20 point grade which I will edit prior to your final project. If it is not turned in to EDMODO BY Friday, it is LATE.
