Masai Giraffe By: Mira Have you ever heard of the Masai Giraffe expert? That’s me, Mira. If you want to learn about Masai Giraffe most interesting facts. Listen, read, and learn about the Masai Giraffes.

Mammal or Not? Did you know that a Masai Giraffe is classified as a mammal? Yes that’s right the Masai Giraffe is a mammal. This creature is warm-blooded that means the body temp. usually stays the same over the day. The Masai Giraffe has fur. All experts know that mammals have fur or hair. Also the Masai Giraffe gives live birth. All mammals give live birth. Last but not least mammals always drink milk from the mothers body. Masai giraffes do the same thing.

Habitat Do you know where this long necked creature lives? The Masai giraffe lives in the North-East or North-West of Savannas of Africa. Acadia trees grow there so do long, yellow grass grows there too. Ground is dry and hard. Wild fires come often, because the land is dry and hot. Savanna- a hot dry land that includes lots of animals like Masai Giraffes.

Food and Feeding Do you know that all animals need some source of food? Walk in for more info. Chew, crunch, chomp that is the sound I hear when the Masai Giraffe eat. They eat Acadia tree shoots, berries, and drinks water from the water hole. Water Hole- a big hole in Africa that animals bath and drink in.

Life Cycle Do you see a mother giraffe in a place with no grass, trees or stones that can hide predators? When she thinks that no predators are crawling about she bends her knees and splays her legs. Suddenly, plop the baby giraffe is born. She pushes the little giraffe gently to the herd. A couple of months later a little giraffe is grown up she finds a mate. About 5 years later the giraffe dies. splays- to spread something

Adaptations Do you know why Masai Giraffes are some of the tallest land animals in Africa? That’s because the Masai Giraffe has a long neck and tail . These are just some of these physical adaptations. Another one is the humps on their head these help them to fight. This is a physical adaptation. They travel in groups (herds) this is a behavioral adaptation. The pattern on the body is for blending in with other Masai Giraffes. This is a physical adaptation.

Conclusion Well that’s all for now. If you want to actually see these beautiful animals go to Africa on the Savannas.
