Reading: from “Reflections on Theology and Peace” by Ursula Franklin Response: VU 683 “An Affirmation of Peace”

A Litany of Peace Church of England, alt. Sung Response: Dona Nobis Pacem”

COMING TO THE TABLE Prayer of Confession: Holy God, violence and hatred so often overwhelm our world. Today we remember and repent of the ways, even in our own lives, greed displaces generosity, fear distorts our common humanity, hatred obscures love, and violence destroys peace....

Heal us, O God. Guide us as we work for peace - in our homes, our community, our church, and our world. Call us again to lives of love, caring, generosity, and compassion. This we ask in name of Jesus Christ, our Prophet and Prince of Peace. Amen.

Words of Assurance Peace: The Peace of Christ be with you all. And also with you.

Presentation Hymn: MV 79 “Spirit, Open My Heart”

God be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to God. Let us give thanks to God. It is right to give God thanks and praise.

... we sing your praise: [tune: VU 951] Santo, Santo, Santo! Mi corazón te adora! Mi corazón te sabe decir: Santo eres Dios! Holy, holy, holy! Hosanna in the highest! Let all creation praise and pray: Save us, Holy God!

... we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died, is risen, will come again to meet us, and walks with us the Way of love. Holy kindom, come!

... our Creator, our Sustainer, and Redeemer, forever! Holy, holy, holy! Amen, we pray, with longing. Let all creation cry Amen! Holy kindom, come! The Prayer of Jesus

Music during Communion: MV 221 I am walking a path of peace hope love grace joy lead me home, lead me home.

Prayer after Communion God, lead us from death to life, from falsehood to truth. Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to trust. Lead us from hate to love, from war to peace. Let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe. Amen.

Hymn: “This Is My Song” Words: L. Stone; Tune: FINLANDIA This is my song, O God of all the nations, a song of peace for lands afar and mine. This is my home, the country where my heart is; here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine; but other hearts in other lands are beating with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean, and sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine; but other lands have sunlight too, and clover, and skies are everywhere as blue as mine. O hear my song, thou God of all the nations, a song of peace for their land and for mine.
