She agreed to put away Philip & he agreed to put away his wife. – This led to war with Arabia.

The Gospel of Matthew The Death of John the Baptizer 14:1-12 “It is not lawful for you to have her” – Philip was still alive (cf. Dt. 25:5-10). – Herodias “put away” Philip. Under Mosaic Law only the man could “put away” his wife (Deut 24:1-4). – Josephus says this “confounded” the laws of their country (Antiquities of the Jews, 18.5).
