Definition of Fairy Tales These stories usually start with “Once upon a time”. This is a story that is fictional and sometimes unbelievable. Fairy Tales usually have good and bad characters, such as a princess (good) and a witch (bad). These are stories that usually end with “Happily Ever After”.

Definition of Myths A myth is an ancient story that is past through the generations to teach children about heroes and ancestors. It shows the views of how life use to be in the past and what the ideal society was. A myth also shows that some people use these to explain their customs.

Animal Tales Definition These tales are found in every culture and they usually give animals or objects human personalities and characteristics. Animal tales are sometimes placed in four areas. The first is etiological tale which is the Native American animal tale. The second is a fable which is a short story that proves to a point about someone or something. The third is a beast epic which tells a story in a medieval setting and time. The fourth is a trickster tale in which the main character is either good or evil.
