Presentation transcript:

In the current climate it’s natural for all families to worry about jobs and how they might cope with paying their rent, mortgages and bills. One in six adults aged 18 to 24 in England are so-called "neets" (not in education, employment or training), the Department for Children, Schools and Families statistics from April to June show. The rise is thought to be fuelled by the recession and a shortage of jobs for young people SURVIVING THE RECESSION

New Line Learning Academy has developed a package that offers a new and innovative approach to education for young students and their families of today. This PSHE scheme will not only engage young people but will also serve all ages in the communities that surround us, in need of financial awareness and money matters.

This scheme of work has a strong focus on communities, and this financial PSHE scheme is a package for young people to promote collective family learning. There are units within this first scheme that have parent and child worksheets on each individual topic areas to complete together. The scheme of work will have an ongoing impact on families lives and also will help our young generation make better choices when it comes to money.

The resources are designed to simulate discussion and family learning within the home, improving financial competence and understanding. This will significantly reduce the stress levels currently present with the ever looming recession and economic down turn.

New Line Learning Academy has a vision to combine school based learning in financial awareness into the community We have achieved this by integrating learning resources into the community for both parents and children to use concurrently to achieve families working together. The resources have been designed by myself and our young students here at New Line Learning Academy. This will help primary level students and their families have more financial awareness. This will give young pupils and families a greater understanding of the concepts of money. This scheme of work can also work for secondary students. OUR VISION

This scheme of work will fit into the PSHE element of the curriculum. The programme will help students and their families develop a better relationship by working together to complete elements of work in each sections at home. They will develop better: Social skills Interactive skills More financial awareness Numeracy and literacy skills Family values Evaluating skills- what did they learn? Measuring success of material and topics covered. WHERE DOES IT FIT IN ?

Students and parents will benefit from a wider knowledge and understanding about their own finances. Will change attitudes and behaviours by: Developing family values. Changing lives – students outlook on life and parents outlook on life. Will help poverty areas become more aware of financial help they can get. Will equip young pupils and their families with the knowledge and skills needed for everyday scenarios. OUTCOMES

You will be given 6 different topics areas to deliver to your students. These will be in professional packages and will also be supplied with a programme index, so you know what will be covered in each topic area. Teacher answer sheets for each topics, plus unit objectives and outcomes Board game templates and activities will be supplied for you to use with your students and these can also be taken home for students to use with their families. You will also have parent and child sheetsfor the students to take home and complete with their families (applying knowledge at home). Classroom information sheets and handouts. Worksheets for students to complete. RESOURCES

School Based learners OUR VISION Primary school students awareness Parentaware ness Parent and child learning together

Next year there will be additional units introduced on different financial topic areas. If you are interested in taking this new scheme of work on then please back for more information This is a new upcoming topic and is needed in our young students lives and in society today. We are currently using this scheme of work very effectively and there are other schools taking on this scheme of work in poverty areas. Along with interactive games and engaging topic areas of what money means.

The scheme of work will help achieve families working together and will help move forward the fundamental principle of effective teaching and learning, creating opportunities for students to develop and apply their learning skills in a practical way in and out of the classroom, making a positive realistic contribution to communities and family based learning. The PSHE scheme of work will tick the boxes for Numeracy and literacy skills and will achieve ECM standards.
