Confirmation Class The Christian and Prayer…

Christian Prayer is: Psalm 19:14 1. A heart - to - heart talk, out loud or silent, with the one true God. Isaiah 59:2 Galatians 3:26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus 2. A privilege for those who have become God’s children through faith in Jesus.

Ephesians 6:18 Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 3. A command of God for all believers, for their good 4. A natural response (fruit) of faith in Jesus.

How does this work? God Speaking To us (Word and Sacrament) Leads to To God Our Speaking (Prayer)

How should we pray? 1 Timothy 2:5 1. In Jesus’ name, that is, trusting in Him as our Savior. 1John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 2. According to God’s will; so we seek Bible study and the Spirit’s help to know God’s will.

Wall of sin God Praying in Jesus’ name prayers Sin Christ

3. Trusting that God will hear and answer our prayers in His own time and way. James 1:5-7 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

1. Especially for spiritual things, but also for physical needs. Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:9-15 For what should we pray?

2. For our needs (with personal petitions) Psalm 50:15 Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. I Timothy 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone. 3. For the needs of others (with intercessions)
