Yu. Guz 18/12/20062 PM+CW Two access periods: side C: ; side A: Replacements: side Aside C dead or malfunctioning CW64 anode G=100k (~1kV) 22 anode HV=1.6 kV11- NB: The dead CWs went dead during our tests in 2006

Guz 18/12/20063 PM+CW : anode leakage current Leakage current to anode : ● when moderate (~100 nA), makes impossible the Cs calibration, but no problem for normal operation ● higher current may damage the CW Probable reason – dirt at CW PCB between the closely placed anode and 8 th dynode pads (also at the other side of the PCB, under the PM – very difficult to access) Extra work : add (spray) some more insulating varnish to this area, in order to protect from humidity (may be important e.g. at air conditioning failures) For the moment, done for half of side A Fragment of CW PCB Anode Dynode 8

Guz 18/12/20064 Signal cables Surprisingly few broken ATI connectors found after the LAL repairs: 7 replaced at side C and 16 at side A (thanks to Irina for the help) The delays between LED firing signal and PM output were measured for all PMs side C and >half of side A (Rustem, to be completed). All the delays within one calorimeter module lay within ±1 ns C side Outer section

Yu. Guz 18/12/20067 LED monitoring system The linearity of PIN vs PM was studied. In order to avoid possible rate effect, one of the two LEDs was set to continuous light mode, giving current of ~100 nA in each PM. Some nonlinearity exists, which may be accounted for, for better correction of the LED signal amplitude. Points for 16 (40) PMs superimposed

Yu. Guz 18/12/20068 Cs calibration system All the CANBus electronic modules for the hydraulic system control are ready (V. Matveev) The standalone version of the software for Cs data taking and analysis is ready (V. Novikov) The hydraulic system is tested at both sides. The test run with “dummy source” (empty container) with readout of integrators was done at side C in September Waiting for the real source ! The crate with hydraulic system control electronics

Guz 18/12/20069 Future plans The planning depends significantly on the access schedule Access is not needed: ● installation of electronic racks, cabling – at side C start mid January ● run LED monitoring system with final electronics ◈ final repair of cables and ATI connectors ◈ various tests and precalibrations ◈ trigger emulation and studies Access is needed ● varnish the rest of CWs ● replace existing integrators by the new ones, those with four measurement ranges and better offset stability (will be delivered to CERN in February-March) ◈ check of the new integrators using a LED driver in the continuous light mode

Guz 18/12/ Future plans Access is needed: ◈ re-check the PMs and cable connections with LED pulses ● startup and commissioning of the Cs calibration system (also depends on the safety issues and source installation by RP) ◈ final commissioning of the hydraulic system ◈ commissioning of the new integrators and their readout system ◈ software development, integration into ECS
