The Five Minds are competencies which young people and the society need in the twenty first century going forward.

 Disciplined Mind  Synthesizing Mind  Creative Mind  Respectful Mind  Ethical Mind

The term disciplinary thinking has three connotations of the English word discipline. 1. Practice to get disciplinary muscle. 2. Master the major ways of thinking.  Different from subjet matter  Things which you just can’t pass on  Poorly disciplined mind: look through one discipline 3. Become an expert in at least one thing.  Arthur Rubinstein – famous pianist

 Criteria for deciding what to pay attention to and what to ignore.  Too much information on internet, etc.  Put information together in ways which cohere, which make sense for you.  Has to be transmittable to other people.  Mind maps  Stories  Formulas  Charts  Etc.

 You cannot be creative unless you have mastered at least one discipline, art or craft.  Cognitive science teaches us that on the average, it takes about ten years to master a craft. CREATIVITY EXPERTPERSONALITY JUDGEMENT OF THE FIELD

It is recognizing that the world is composed of people who look different, think differently, have different belief and value systems, and that we can no longer be hermits and live in complete isolation. This process begins with birth and at home.

 Involves a higher level of abstraction.  Being in the world involves a higher level of thinking. GOOD WORK PROJECT ETHICAL EXCELLENCEENGAGEMENT
