Presentation transcript:

Down syndrome is a disability also known as Trismony 21.

Down Syndrome is caused by having an extra pair of chromosomes.

Normally someone with Down Syndrome will have some kind of heart defect.

People with Down Syndrome are just human so don’t treat them any different than you would to any non- disabled person.

Be patient with them. They learn differently than you because their brain doesn’t grow as fast as their body which grows at a normal pace.

Down Syndrome is not degenerative, but it is incurable.

 Down Syndrome was named after the man who first explained it, Dr. John Down.  The risk of having a child with Down Syndrome increases with the mother’s age(35).  Pregnancies are often terminated after tests prove that the woman is having a child with Down Syndrome.  A person with Down Syndrome may have certain cancers including acute leukemia and myeloid leukemia.

People with Down Syndrome are as normal as you are. You shouldn’t baby them because they look or act funny.

We are all different whether you like it or not.

If you help someone with Down Syndrome you could change their life. You could be the reason they succeed or the reason they accomplish something bigger than they ever imagined
