Science Research Project Outline and how-to- for

Setup Poster on PowerPoint  Go to the “Design” Tab and select the “Slide Size” button. This will allow you to customize the slide.  Make your poster 30 inches wide and 42 inches hiegh  Width = 30 inches  Hieght= 42 inches

Name and Author  Please enter the title of the paper where it says “Click to add title”  Enter the name of the author of this project (your name) where it says “Click to add subtitle”  Title = 72 point Times New Roman  Author = 20 point Times New Roman

How to complete the poster?  Have your student complete the following slides to the best of their ability After each instructional slide there is a blank slide so that your student can answer the questions and save their work. When completed we will copy and paste the sections to their given positions by matching the numbers on the below slide the number on the example poster. # 1 Background Slide (7-10 sentences) 1) What was the goal of your research project? What were you trying to prove? (Answer these questions in at least two sentences) 2) Other than being the topic of your previous paper, why are you interested in the topic you worked on? (Use 2-3 sentences to answer this question) 3) Choice one of the following questions and answer it using 3-5 sentences 1) Have you see something in your life that relates to your project ? 2) Did you learn anything from your project that you can relate to your life? 3) Use what you know and what you observed by doing your science experiment and try to explain how the information you gathered could help other scientist with similar studies

#2 Materials and Methods (1 chart 1 set of instructions )  Materials should be placed into a chart with at least 2 columns. One for the name of the item and another for the quantity.  Methods should be a simple but complete step by step instruction on how to complete the science project. By following the steps anyone should be able to recreate the experiment with similar data. Place 3 slices of bacon on a pan preheated To 300 degrees fahrenheit. After both sides have browned crack 2 eggs over the bacon and immediately pour ¼ pounds of cubed cheese over the mixture. Cook until solid. Pour 8 ounces of orange juice into empty glass and enjoy. #3 Results (at least 1 labeled chart)  This section should only have charts and some explanations if needed but they are not required. If you need help making a chart please me. 

(answer this question using at least 3 sentences)  Do you notice any patters in your results? Why or why not? (use at least 2 sentences to answer this question)  What can you change or add to your experiment to make it better? (use at least three sentence to answer this question)

#5 Abstract (at least 8 sentences)  This is a summary of the entire project including vocabulary words.  What was the goal of your research project? What were you trying to prove? (Answer these questions in at least two sentences)  As simply as you can with little detail explain how you completed your experiment.  (i.e.We cooked 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon and ate it with a glass of orange juice.)  Based on your data/results did you prove your hypothesis to be true or false? (answer this question using at least 3 sentences)

#6 Acknowledgements  In this section students should write a short thank you to any of the people that helped them to complete their experiment including family members. There is no sentence requirement for this section but the student should try their best to say thank you to those that made it possible for them to complete their experiment.
