After These Things. 19:1¶ “And after these things..” a new vision - John sees events to occur after fall of Rome. Lord Jesus and Saints rejoice in ruling place (“heaven”) of Jerusalem. Alleluia means ‘Praise ye Yah’ - Why? - victory in judgment on Rome achieved. Second stage - to put down remaining resistance to Jesus. 19:15 “… he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” 19:3 By end - Babylon completely destroyed.

Rejoicing After Warfare. 19:1-4 Introduction - Twenty four elders and four living ones - glorified saints (as ch.4) - then exclaim ‘Amen’ - end of war of great day of the Almighty. 19:3 “...her smoke rose up for ever and ever…” meaning total removal - as Sodom. 19:7 “Marriage” & v9 “marriage supper” both distinct events after Christ’s return. “Marriage” refers to moment when approved Saints elevated to immortal life.

Invitation to Marriage Supper. 19:9 Subsequent to the marriage - Angel issues merciful invitation perhaps calling representatives of peoples and nations of the world to the marriage supper. 19:6 Mortal population who respond will indeed be blessed - comprise the ‘waters’ who rejoice at this great Hallelujah festival. 19:10 John overcome at seeing this wonderful event - worships the angel - is warned to keep all praise and adoration for Almighty God.

Sequence of Events – Recap. Marriage of Christ and Saints - given immortality First involvement of glorified Saints (after the marriage) - release land of Israel from host of Gog the captor. Jews in land freed - Jesus enthroned - chance to recognize and accept their Messiah. Second stage - City of Rome destroyed. 19:19 Sympathisers of Rome - Catholic Europe, the Pope and hierarchy - gather army against Jesus and Saints.

Sequence - Recap (cont’d). Beast & False Prophet cast into lake of fire – i.e. resistance of Catholic Europe ended. Marriage supper follows subsequently - separate event from the marriage itself: Celebrated in Jerusalem with invited guests - possibly representatives from nations prepared to accept Jesus as King - bringing presents. Commencement of Millennium

Conquest - Christ Victorious. 19:18 Opportunity for nations to acknowledge as just, judgments of Christ poured out - thus symbolically “eat the flesh of Kings…” 19:19 Time for repentance passed. Beast & False Prophet declare Holy war. 19:20 Lake of fire & brimstone in Europe - symbolically & literally - Destruction of Beast & False Prophet Striking fulfillment -till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame” (Dan. 7:11)

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
