Segregation The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine black students in the Little rock area that wanted to go to school. The local high school wouldn’t segregate.

Little Rock Nine The little rock nine consisted of; Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Carlotta Walls Lanier, Jefferson Thomas , Dr. Terrence Roberts , Minnijean Brown Trickey, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Thelma Mothershed-Wair, an Melba Pattillo Beals. These students were kept out of the high school.

Segregation types The little rock nine were kept out of the school by many people on of them being the governor Orval Fabbus. He ordered that the students be kept out of the high school an that segregation will not be allowed. People did things to the students such as; scaring them by saying the KKK was coming for them an that they were going to hang them, like they should be.

Segregation cont. Once the students where in school people tormented them. Some of the things people did once the students got in school were worst. One day when a young black girl went to the restroom 5 white men went into the bathroom an held the stall door shut, lit paper balls on fire an threw them at her while she was trapped an could not get away.

Segregation Cont. Some of the things students went through were with mob like mentality with the whit men. Below is a picture of one black girl surrounded by at least a hundred white people on her walk to school. This was an everyday appearance for at least a month while the students were going to school.

The Outcome On September 25th Congressman Brooks Hays and Mayor Woodrow Mann sent a letter to the President to ask for help. The very next day the troops were sent down to Arkansas an President Eisenhower also took control from Orval Fabbus an ordered the Arkansas National Guard to escort the students into school.
