MUSCULAR SYSTEM

WHAT DOES THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM DO? ACCOUNTS FOR ALL OF THE WAYS THAT THE PARTS OF THE BODY MOVE. ACTIONS SUCH AS RUNNING,EATING,BREATHING,DIGESTING FOOD,PUMPING BLOOD. HELPS PROTECT YOUR JOINTS AND HELPS CREATE HEAT THAT KEEPS YOUR BODY WARM.

WHAT ARE MUSCLES MADE OF? BUNDLES OF SPECIAL CELLS CALLED MUSCLE FIBERS MAKE UP THE MUSCLES MUSCLE FIBERS ARE MADE UP OF LONG,PAIRED STRANDS OF PROTEIN WHEN MUSCLE FIBERS CONTRACT, THE WHOLE MUSCLE SHORTENS.

HOW DO SKELETAL MUSCLES MOVE THE BODY? BY PULLING ON BONES THAT MEET AT JOINTS ARE CONNECTED TO BONES BY TENDONS MUSCLES WORK IN PAIRS-ONE CONTRACTS AND THE OTHER RELAXES ABOUT 95% OF SPORT INJURIES ARE DUE TO MINOR TRAUMA INVOLVING MUSCLES,LIGAMENTS,AND /OR TENDONS

WHAT CAUSES MUSCLES TO GET BIGGER WHEN YOU EXERCISE? WHEN LIFTING SOMETHING HEAVY MUSCLE FIBERS IN THE MUSCLE CONTRACT REPEPEATED STRONG CONTRACTIONS CAUSE THE MUSCLE FIBERS AND THE MUSCLE ITSELF TO GROW. REPEATED MODERATE EXERCISE INCREASES MUSCLE ENDURANCE.

ARE ALL MUSCLES THE SAME? THERE ARE 3 TYPES OF MUSCLE TISSUE IN THE BODY. SKELETAL MUSCLE OR STRAITED MUSCLE,IS THE TYPE YOU CAN MOVE VOLUNTARILY. SMOOTH MUSCLE CAUSE THE INVOLUNTARLIY MOVEMENTS SUCH AS YOUR EYELIDS,INTERNAL ORGANS, AND BLOOD VESSELS. CARDIAC MUSCLE-INVOLUNTARILY FOUND ONLY IN THE WALLS OF THE HEART.

CARE OF THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM USE IT OR LOSE IT ATROPY-AN UNUSED MUSCLE THAT WASTE AWAY. MUSCLE TONE-THE NATURAL TENSION IN THE FIBERS OF A MUSCLE.

PROBLEMS OF THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM MYASTHENIA GRAVIS-IS A DISORDER IN WHICH THE MUSCLES BECOME WEAK AND EASILY FATIGUED. MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY- IS AN INHERITED DISORDER BY A PROGRESSIVE WASTING AWAY OF THE SKELETAL MUSCLE

INJURY-RELATED MUSCULAR PROBLEMS MUSCLE STRAIN-PULLED MUSCLE IS A TEARING OR STRETCHING OF MUSCLE FIBERS BRUISE-IS A DISCOLORED AREA UNDER THE SKIN CAUSED BY A LEAKAGE OF BLOOD AFTER AN INJURY. TENDINITIS-IS THE INFLAMMATION OF A TENDON USUALLY CAUSED BY OVERUSE. HERNIA-IS PROTRUSION OF AN ORGAN OR TISSSUE THROUGH A WEAK AREA IN THE MUSCLE.
