 Autonomy – Power 5 Conferences passed this: ◦ Cost of Attendance – The gap between the full scholarship and cost of attending school. Examples being:  Transportation  Miscellaneous Bills  Educational Supplies not covered by school  University Assistance  Fundraising  Sponsorships  Ticket Sales 9

 Not all student-athletes have full-ride scholarships ◦ Full Scholarship  Football  Men’s Basketball  Women’s Basketball  Women’s Volleyball  Women’s Tennis ◦ Others  Baseball – 11.4 – over 35 players  UT has 350 student-athletes; 300 are on aid 10

 Number of championship experiences reduced  Possibility of Olympic sports losing funding  Support Services (academic support, career counseling, tutoring) could be affected 13

99% of student-athletes will NEVER turn pro; thus…  Find success in classroom, on field and in life  We provide opportunities of a lifetime – from scholarships to championship experiences  Our system is not perfect  Improve the student-athlete experience: ◦ We can pay for that student-athlete who is returning after eligibility is completed…5 th year aid. ◦ Today, over 460,000 male and female student-athletes (1,100 schools) compete while getting their degree. Without sports, would they be attending college? 14

 15% of all D-1 student-athletes are first-generation college students  More than 8 of 10 Division 1 athletes earn their degrees  CNN Statistic – Average college student graduates with about $35,200 in debt, which most D-1 athletes do not have 15

16 “We are here because of the student-athletes.”
