 Draw a line down the middle of the page.  Note down either key arguments for or key arguments against abortion and prepare a 30 second public service announcement to convince people of this viewpoint (RNS).  When listening to announcements, note down the arguments from the other side.  A = Pro-life  B = Pro-choice

 Pro-life  All life is sacred and belongs to God (sanctity of life).  Should defend vulnerable, foetus cannot defend itself.  Purpose of humans is to preserve life.  Even if a foetus is born with disabilities, it is difficult to say what its quality of life would be.  Abortion is murder.  Everyone has a right to life and no-one should be allowed to take that right away.  Pro-choice  Women should have right to choose what happens to their body.  If woman’s life is at risk, she should be allowed to have an abortion.  If pregnancy is a result of rape or incest, going through with pregnancy would be too traumatic.  If foetus cannot survive outside of womb, it is not a life therefore abortion is not murder.  Some foetuses are so damaged, to allow them to be born would be cruel.  If abortions were made illegal, women would still have them but not in a safe way.

 1) What is pro-choice?  2) What is argument for pro-choice?  3) What is pro-life?  4) What is an argument for pro-life?  5) What is abortion?  6) What do you think and why?
