Always remember there is a person on the other end of the connection. Do not steal, act immorally, or unethically. Do not waste others resources. Make all posts relevant, meaningful, and to the point. Polish your presentation, post a quality product. Do not post unfounded , untrue, or hurtful information. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a special division devoted to web safety. They have posted several key rules for web safety. The rules are as follows. Internet Safety

Software limiting tools such as filters, firewalls, parent controls, and computer protection programs should be used. Internet dangers and inappropriate practices should be explained. Never post personal information such as phone numbers , or social security numbers. Never arrange face to face meetings with cyber friends. Notify an appropriate individual in the event you receive inappropriate materials. Never respond to negative, sexual, or violent posts. Computer Safety Rules For Safe Computing Place computers in a public area. Have a quality security program such as AVG, Norton, or MacAfee. Keep it updated and run it daily. Use parental controls and site filtering tools. Bookmark sites appropriate for use. Do not open unknown emails. Do not download from unknown sites with invalid security certificates. Monitor all usage through the history and web monitoring programs. Do not store any passwords or personal information on your computer. Teach Acceptable computing. (Dowshen, 2008) Computer Safety
