Why? Pool resources for common interests. Reach critical mass. Appropriate arena for collaboration? Develop competence through knowledge exchange. Get co-funding from NeIC. Add value to more users (a.k.a. get more value to your users). Faster/better deliveries? NeIC mode of operations: co-finance and run short-term collaborative projects for concrete e-infrastructure improvements. NeIC added value: build expertise to minimize overhead of international collaboration. 2
