THEORY OF DESIGN SOUMENDRA ROY B.ARCH 3 RD YEAR SOUMENDRA ROY B.ARCH 3 RD YEAR DESIGN METHODOLOGY

DEFINE AND UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM COLLECT INFORMATION AND STUDY THINK IDEAS AND REPRESENT IMROVE AND FINALIZE PRESENT TO OTHERS AND GATHER FEEDBACK DEVELOP SOLUTION AND BUILD TEST MODEL BASIC PROCESS

DEFINE AND UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM THIS IS THE FIRST THING TO BE DONE BEFORE STARTING TO THINK ANYTHING ABOUT OUR DESIGN.WE FIRST NEED TO DEFINE OR FIGURE OUT WHAT WE ACTUALLY NEED TO DESIGN AND WHAT IS THE DESIRED DESIGN. THIS INCLUDES UNDERSTANDING THE REQUIREMENTS, PURPOSE,PARAMETERS OF THE DESIGNPROBLEM GIVEN TO US.

SITE ANALYSIS most important part of starting design process as it determines the type and characteristics of the product to be utilized after and to a certain period in that given site

GATHER INFORMATION AND STUDY WE NEED TO COLLECT INFORMATION ON THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, ANTHROPOMETRY, MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM STANDARDS, THE AVAILABLE MATERIALS, THE SITE, THE DESIRES OF THE CLIENT THEN WE NEED TO STUDY THE INFORMATION PARADED INCLUDING ANALYSING THE SITE FROM AS MANY ASPECTS POSSIBLE.

CASE STUDY- a must before any new design process

LITERATURE STUDY-in order to understand the requirements and standards to be followed

THINK IDEAS AND REPRESENT THE PRELIMINARY IDEAS EVOLVE BASED ON THE WAY WE PERCEIVE THE DESIGN TO PROCEED AS. HERE A CONCEPT IS DEVELOPED AND FROM IT WE GET THE BASIC DIRECTION OF OUR DESIGN.FORMS,ZONING,ETC ARE DEVELOPED AT THIS STAGE THE IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS ARE REPRESENTED EITHER IN THE FORM OF SKETCHES,DRAFTINGS OR IN DIGITAL MEDIA AND THEN TRIED TO MATCH WITH THE REQUIRED SOLUTION

“Being an architect isn't only about construction, it's about creating wide spaces with small spaces.” ― Yannick Heywang

DEVELOP SOLUTION AND BUILD TEST MODEL BASED ON THE REPERESENTATIONS AND THE IDEAS WE DEVELOP A MAIN SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM IN THE FORM OF A DESIGN FULFILLING ALL THE DESIRED NECESSITIES AND THE REQUIREMENTS. WE FOCUSS ON MANY ASPECTS HERE INLCUDING THE AESTHETICS,CONSTRUCTION,UTILISATION,COLOURS ETC. FINALLY WE BUILD A MODEL TO ANALISE, CRITICISE AND TEST THE APPROPRIACY OF THE DESIGN

RELATE CONCEPT AND THOUGHT PROCESS It Is the next important step in order to express and put down the thoughts and ideas in graphic or readable form so that a physical existence of the ideas is possible from which the basic design ad finally the final product is derived

PRESENT TO OTHERS AND GATHER FEEDBACK BEFORE FINALISING OUR DRAWINGS WE SHOW OUR DESIGN AND WORKS TO OTHERS TO CRITICALLY DISCUSS ABOUT IT AND REMOVE ANY SMALL MISTAKE OR AND ALSO GATHER THE FEEDBACK FOR IMPROVEMENT OF OUR DESIGN IF NEEDED THIS STAGE TELLS US ABOUT THE FEASABILITY AND WORKABILITY OF OUR DESIGN. IT ALSO REFINES THE CRUDE DESIGN DEVELOPED AND FINALLY GIVE US THE DESIRED MAIN SOLUTION

IMPROVE AND FINALIZE AFTER GATHERING FEEDBACK SOME IMPROVEMENTS ARE DONE BASED ON IT.MORE DETAILS ARE ADDED, SPECIFICATIONS ARE WRITTEN AND FINALLY DRAWINGS ARE PRESENTED IN BEST WAY POSSIBLE. AFTER THIS WHAT WE HAVE IS OUR FINAL DESIGN SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM GIVEN TO US.

Hence we are finally ready with a solution to the given design problem in a better way and efficient way. The final outcome will be the one that suits best for the requirements

THANK YOU
