THE UNIQUE STYLE, MUSIC AND MOVES……

Hip hop is a style of rap, reggae etc… music that people use to dance in the form of hip hop. Its music of us black and Hispanic origin.

What make hip hop is very interesting question because hip hop is known to be a culture in a way shared in movement. People, music and dance is what makes hip hop….. Hip hop can be danced every where and anywhere!

The hip hop music originated from reggae and rap but the dance moves were influenced by the African dance and gymnastics. The music keeps the dancers moving to the beat of the music which is much more inspiring and motivating! 1. B-boying or breaking 2. Crip-walking 3. Popping 4. Electric Boogaloo 5. Floating 6. Turfing 7. Robot/Mannequin Liquids and digits Jerkin’ 8. Harlem shake 9. Krumping Modern day hip hop styles: Krumping Harlem shake Snap dance Clown walk Wu-Tang Gangsta walking

Krumping Involves jabs, arm swings, chest pops, and stomps, its basically any movement you want to create with your body. It’s a move that has to be done as its very expressive hip hop move ! Harlem shake This all started with a YouTube video, originated form the 80’s. No specific move and so may people like it and so that’s what makes it so popular! you have to follow the only thing you have to make sure is to make sure your body does creative moves. Jerkin’ This is a dance move that involves the legs stretching in and out. It is a recent dance move which danced with twitchy dance moves. It also consists of a dress code as dancing it which is neo-coloured skinny jeans and Chuck Taylors. Liquids and digits This dance move involves telling a story and making a visual representation of the music that is playing, it involves you doing a liquid-ish which is a movement that you do with your hands (the hand flows) and then you also do a movement with your fingers. The body is used to share share a feeling and gestures to create a contrast.

Robot/Mannequin This a a robot style dance moves, you act like a robot but contrast with smooth flow of the music! this dance move is the most common in hip-hop Turfing This a traditional move, it’s a dance move that is very improvisational and free-form. Floating When dancing this move, as the dancer you must making it seem as if you are dancing in the air. This move involves you not making friction with your shoes and the floor, these three basic moves are ‘the float,’ ‘gliding,’ and ‘sliding.’ Electric Boogaloo Usually involves ‘rolling’ of the limbs and and twitching legs. Popping This is the main dance move, allot of other dance moves are associated with this dance move. This dance move is often done standing up, and the body twitches or jerks to the beat of the song. The twitches are called “pops” or “hits.” this dance move involves allot of motion!

B-boying or breaking This is the main and most popular dance move! Danced in a circle or cypher with b-boys showing off there moves and competing against the other b-boys. The best associated to hip hop moves is the more popular one. Crip-walking It’s a walk that is done after killing a rival, and like an end scene to the dance! Its not like that anymore, now its just used throughout the hip hop dance! Locking This move is done by pauses or freezes with the beat of the song.

Todays hip hop modern culture is not about the race or the location, its all about the experience and the making of culture with art. Hip hop all originated from the underprivileged and poor people that created it into a culture, the whole dance was about people expressing them selves and being creative. It was also about art and culture, and imagination because there was nothing to work with and so they created there own way to entertain them selves and with an inspiring way. The roots of hip hop started with breakdance. Also when more types of music came out. Also when technology improved and was available at a cheap cost.

Hip hop shows me that the I can be creative and expressive in the way I want to dance… hip hop is a free dance and doesn't’t have a specific rule to it… there is no sequence or anything, but sometimes I feel as if you have it or you don’t! You can make hip hop and game, and competition just by dancing! Its an very inspiring type of dance that is known to be a culture that I like allot and has also inspired allot of other people as so many movies have been made about it that every one knows about!
