Facts About Brown Bears By Gina DiRico

In class I researched Brown Bears. If you read this you will learn about what it looks like, where it lives, how it protects itself, what it eats, and who its enemies are.

Physical Description

Habitat The Brown bear lives in a den or in the deep dark woods. Brown bears also live in fields. You will see deer, grass, forest, and water where they live.

Defense Do you know how the brown bear cubs protect themselves? The cubs climb trees to be safe. Another detail about the bear is it shows its teeth and growls. Finally brown bears have sharp claws.

Prey Crunch...crunch... crunch! Grizzly bears eat plants, fruit, and meat. Brown Bears like to eat many different types of flowers and grass. Brown bears eat berries, oats and mushrooms. They also eat fish, mice, ground squirrels, eggs from nest and honey from bees.

Predators The adult brown bear does not have any enemies, but their cubs do. Read on to find out. Wolves and mountain lions kill cubs. Adult male bears hurt and kill the cubs. Even their own dad is a predator.

Interesting Fact Did you know that the grizzly bear eats as much as 35 pounds of food a day? It takes you almost three weeks to eat that much!!

Finally, to conclude be careful of a brown bear because it can harm you.
