Curriculum Inventory: Key Concepts Program: The curriculum describes a program of study. An institution may have more than one program. Profession: Curricula are designed for a particular profession, for example, physician. Specialty: Curricula in residency and continuing education are usually designed for a particular specialty. Course: Every curriculum has a set of courses that together with other events comprise the curriculum. Session: An event within a course where learning or assessment takes place. Time: Courses and related events are scheduled over a period of time. Duration: Courses and related events last a certain number of hours. Organization: Each curriculum has a structure used for purposes of organizing the courses and other events that comprise the curriculum. Often the structure is tied to time (i.e., years of study), but not always.
