WELCOME VOLUNTEERS! 2012 Volunteer Recognition and Training Session

OUR MISSION Our Mission is to provide activities, education, programs and services for mature citizens which will support independence and quality of life.

THANK YOU Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. Today, our goal is for everyone in this room to feel the gratitude that they deserve everyday.

THANK YOU  We sincerely hope that throughout your volunteering experience, you have felt appreciated and enjoyed your time. To emphasize how much we appreciate your contributions, we wanted to dedicate this time to you!  We want to thank everyone for their volunteer hours and for attending today. We hope to teach you some new skills that will benefit yourself and the volunteer program.

HISTORY  2006: Forever Young senior group at Mary Queen of Peace Church  Bonnie Olson, Pat Johnson, and Judy Hanson  5 ½ years  September 2007: Senior Advisory Board  Hassan Town Hall: Open House in April 2008  New programs: Thursday bus is a success  Handled by volunteers  January 2011: Seniors requested city to start a dining program  Began in July 2012  We have came a long way, thanks to all the volunteer time and effort

BEING A VOLUNTEER MEANS…  Providing services for the good of others and community  Helping out when others are unable to  Using unique skills we each hold to benefit the program and each other  Having the desire to be a lifelong learner  Having fun and contributing to the wellness of the people around

GUIDELINES  Commitment!  Arrive for shifts you have pledged to help with  If a last minute conflict requires you to miss a shift, secure another volunteer to fill your spot  Work as a team and allow everybody the chance to help  Follow procedures that the health department and the city have approved  Everyone is required to respect other volunteers, the people we are serving in the community, and all equipment we borrow or use.

MOVING FORWARD By having compassionate people like every one of you, we are able to put together and continue programs that help Our Mission to provide activities, education, programs and services for mature citizens which will support independence and quality of life.

SUGGESTIONS

SPREAD THE OPPORTUNITY  Share with others your volunteering experiences  Ask others to join you for a shift  Discover who would be interested in particular volunteer activities  We welcome new participants and volunteers!

YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE  Each of you brings a unique contribution to senior programming  What everyone has in common is the ability to give so much and expect very little in return  We are grateful for all the generosity you bring to Rogers Senior Programs
