Advanced Metering Infrastructure Landscape

MDMS (Meter Data Management System) An MDMS is an automated system that collects data from various meter reading devices and processes the information which then links to the Utilities main system. An MDM system will typically Import the data, then validate, cleanse and process it before making it available for billing and analysis Validate the data and calculate estimates if no readings are supplied Make sure the data is an appropriate format, before sending it to the billing system Provide 2 way communication between CIS and AMI systems

Zimele Advanced Metering Infrastructure Mobility Landscape

South Africa Mobile Phone Statistics 29 Million cellphone users in South Africa 29% of South Africans use their cellphone to access the Internet More Africans have access to mobile phones than they do clean water Mobile phone use amongst South African adults rose from just 17% in 2000 to 76% by 2010 More South Africans use mobile phones (29 million) than listen to the radio (28 million) or use a personal computer (6 million). The LSM for the mobile phones are as follows: o Traditional 1 smartphone by per household o Transitional 2 smartphones per household o Middle Class 2 or more smartphones per household o Upper Class 3 or more smartphone per household  10 Million smart phones were sold in South Africa  Increase of 42% in internet users from June 2012 – June 2013  Projected 22.8 million Internet users by 2015

AMI Mobi Take Aways  MDMS Application allows the consumer to perform previously manual errands on their smart phone.  Usage patterns can be viewed via a smart phone  Another avenue for revenue collection.  MDMS shortens the Meter to Cash process, MDMS Application shortens the AMI Customer Query process.  AMI Mobility completes the AMI Infrastructure  AMI Mobi enhances the Meter to Cash experience

Conclusion  Smart phone usage is increasing exponentially  Having everything at your fingertips is convenient  More and more companies are integrating mobile apps  Mobility allows better Revenue Management  Proactive rather than reactive  Mobility is the way of the future
