Next Steps for Planning a Family Literacy Night After piloting literacy stations with my class for the past couple of weeks, I would like to move my Literacy program to bringing my students’ parents and families to school to hold a Family Literacy Night. This Family Literacy Night will entail teachers, students and their families participating in literacy stations that they can do at home with their child to support them with learning how to read. My focus group is the families of my English Language learners since these are the students that need the most support since they are learning English as a second language. At each station, there will be a translator that will provide all instructions given by the teacher in Spanish. This will make the literacy material accessible to all families and students who attend. I would love to move this Family Literacy Night where it involves all families from grades Kindergarten through Second grade. Here is my timeline for the next couple of months: December- Continue to pilot and implement Literacy Program in my classroom January- Plan with teachers from K-2 about holding a Family Literacy Night in March February- Meet with teachers from K-2 and plan stations and book bags March- Hold Family Literacy Night at Marsh Elementary

Family Literacy Night Come join me for a great night filled with the JOY OF READING! It will be fun for the whole family! WEDNESDAY, March 20th 5-6pm in the Cafeteria
