Our goal this year Working in conjunction with students, parents and the community, our primary goal for the year is to both achieve and exceed the learning goals and expectations already set forth by the Round Rock Independent School District. COURSE OVERVIEW Regular World History Explore the history of humankind Analyze events and issues from earliest times to present-day Use primary and secondary source materials Practice reading and writing skills regularly Incorporate technology and critical thinking *This course earns students one social studies credit and begins to prepare them for next year’s United States history class.

COURSE OVERVIEW A.P. World History Pass the A.P. Exam with a score of 3 or above & possibly earn college credit Financial assistance available to pay for the exam in May if necessary. A.P. Exam is May 15, 2015 Course explores the history of humankind, including technological and environmental transformations, organization of societies, regional and global interactions, industrial integration and global change. Heavy analysis on events and issues from earliest times to present-day Emphasis on critical thinking Primary and secondary source materials used regularly Required daily reading & homework Writing workshops on essay formatting, grading rubrics, etc. Laptop use often *This course earns students one social studies credit and begins to prepare them for next year’s A.P. U.S. History course.

Grading Regular World History Please monitor Home Access weekly. Printed periodic progress reports are also available when requested. Grading Categories/Weights Tests 30% Quizzes 30% Class/Homework40% Late work accepted for up to 7 calendar days past a due date for max grade of 70%. Work received later is accepted for a max grade of 50%.

Retesting policies Students can re-test and correct quizzes when unsuccessful on initial attempt. Max grade earned on a second attempt is 70%. Must complete within 7 days of original grade posting. Max grade possible after 7 days is 50%. Correcting quizzes requires the student to write out the missed question, including with it specific evidence/reasoning for the correct answer. Retesting consists of the student completing a secondary review prior to sitting for an alternative test. Tutorials required

Tutorial Information Tutorials are available for all students who need additional help with the course. At times, a teacher might assign a student mandatory tutorials. If a student fails to uphold her/his obligation to attend such assigned tutorials, disciplinary action may result. Teachers keep track of tutorial attendance through a student sign in. TUTORIAL SCHEDULE Monday-Friday: 8:15-9 A.M. Monday Afternoons: 4:15-5
