The Olympics London 2012

The High Arcal School have secured 4 tickets to the Paralympics. You can apply to win these tickets. There are 4 categories. The winner of each will receive a ticket! You will be taken to London in September to watch an olympic event!

Category 1 Services to the School / Student Leadership

What have you done to show you are committed to improving the school for students? How have you contributed to the development of The High Arcal School? How have you demonstrated your outstanding leadership skills?

Category 2 The Sponsored Walk

Sponsored Walk There are three sections to complete in order to gain a Paralympics ticket from the Sponsored Walk: 1.Olympic Spirit This can be shown by wearing clothes / costumes which inspire the theme of the Olympics and can be accompanied by props, such as sports equipment or Olympic torches. 2.Olympic Values The Olympic Values are: Respect, Friendship and Excellence. You need to incorporate at least one of these themes in your walk. For example you could form a team to help friends; or could encourage others to complete their walk, showing them respect; be imaginative! 3.Olympic Competition The amount of money you raise for the Sponsored Walk will count towards the competition, so raise as much as you can to be in the running for a ticket.

Sponsored Walk The application form requires you to write in a very brief description of what you intend to do on the day to meet the criteria. The last box will be filled in with your final total on the day of the Walk and then it will be handed in to Mr McElligott. Category 3 Making a video on the history of the Olympics

Aim and Purpose You will be required to create a video using ICT to showcase the history of the Olympics The target audience will be anyone that is interested in the finding out the history of the Olympics along with key events which makes it such an exciting global event

Criteria The video must be between 1 – 4 minutes It must include sound, transitions, effects, videos and text (images are optional) It must illustrate the history of the Olympics along with key facts You can use any video editing software of your choice Videos will be provided by Mr. Riccardo but you are also required to research and download your own clips

Category 4 Commitment to Sport at The High Arcal School

High Arcal Sports Personality of the Year Who should enter? Any of you with a passion and commitment to sport, who would love the opportunity to visit the Olympic stadium.

How do I apply? Applications can be collected from the Student Reception at lunchtimes only. Applications must also be returned to th Student reception, at lunchtimes only. DEADLINE: 25 th June
