SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR Q&A

QUESTION: HOW LONG DOES MY RESEARCH PAPER NEED TO BE? Answer: Remember, you’re not actually writing a research paper for this project. Your research will be displayed across your trifold board. The paper you will write is simply a four-paragraph “process paper.” Please refer to the project packet you received in class for specific info on what to include.

QUESTION: WHY IS THE PAPER CALLED A “PROCESS PAPER” ANYWAY? Answer: The process paper simply outlines the process you went through to conduct your research. It is an informal piece, although it does need to be typed and it does need to be well-written.

QUESTION: DO I HAVE TO PRESENT MY PROJECT TO ANYONE ORALLY? Answer: No! There is no oral presentation required for this project! On Friday during our regular social studies class period, we’ll be going to the Mgsr. Passerelli room, and you’ll be able to talk about your project as students from other grades come through. (That’s not nearly as nerve-wracking as a presentation, though!) The other thing that might happen is that on Thursday as projects are being judged, you *might* be called to discuss your project with a judge.

QUESTION: WILL MY TEACHER OR THE JUDGES REALLY BE ABLE TO TELL IF I’VE COPIED MY INFORMATION WORD-FOR-WORD? Answer: Yes. That’s plagiarism. Don’t do it! The end.

QUESTION: I’M HAVING TROUBLE FINDING GRAPHS AND CHARTS TO SUPPORT MY TOPIC. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST? Answer: It’s possible to create your own. Visit onlinecharttool.com to create graphs based on your data!

QUESTION: I CAN’T FIND THE PACKET OF PAPERS YOU GAVE ME ABOUT THE SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR. MAY I HAVE ANOTHER COPY? Answer: Everything you’ll need has been uploaded to my school webpage. Look on the “Important Forms and Info” tab and scroll down to find the Microsoft Word documents pertaining to the project. Hopefully you won’t need them, because you’ve carefully and responsibly kept up with your original copy…but these are here just in case.
