Planning and Setting Up a Website

Creating a Website – Planning Stage  AUDIENCE -- who will visit your site? What information do they need? What needs do they have that your website will provide?  GOALS -- what do you want to accomplish with this site? How will your site provide the information your visitors need?  FLOWCHART -- map out a logical layout of pages to guide visitors through your site (snapshot view from your visitor’s point of view)  SITE ORGANIZATION CHART – map out the links and sections you’ll have in your site. What filenames and folders will you need? What other technologies will you need to accomplish the goals?

Example: Creating a Recipe Site  Audience: Friends and family (and other interested parties) who might want to try my favorite recipes.  Goal: To make it easy for people to try out my recipes
