7 CTA Results: Action and Decision Steps  Identify the themes and messages from higher that you need to consider in developing your plan and write them in the box labeled IO Themes and Messages.  Identify facts that suggest reasons for what you want to achieve in the negotiation and write them in the box labeled Talking Points.  Write a list in the Intended Outcomes box of what you want to achieve.  From the list in Step c, write down in My Bottom Line the minimum Intended Outcomes that you will accept.  Listen to your partner’s response, paraphrase it back to them and ask “Did I understand”? IF your partner says “no” then ask them to correct you until they say “yes”.  IF your partner agrees to give you what you need, THEN the negotiation is completed.  IF your partner refuses to give you what you need, and they do not explain why THEN ask them to explain the reason for their refusal and repeat step b.  IF your partner refuses to explain the reason for their refusal, THEN proceed to step i.
