MuTr Recap Status and Plan
Plan We are shooting for North Station-1 for post Run10 shutdown installation. Best scenario is to mount portable “clamp” type re-capacitation board without soldering, without taking out Station-1 chamber. Prototype re-capacitation boards are tested in RIKEN.
Recap Board Prototype I
Recap Board Prototype Test Measured Electrical Contact of between probe and pad after disassembly/re-assembly of recap boards – About 50% of probes lost contact. Problem: – Individual probe doesn’t have flexibility to absorb unique surface structure of pad probe pad Capacitor board
Improvement for Prototype II Let individual probe have flexible freedom to adjust elevation so that it can absorb surface structure (remaining solder on pad). – Rubber pad – Spring probe (Current limit < 0.2A to prevent from burning spring) – Comb shape capacitor board Let capacitor board have more power to push probe – Thicker G10 – Angled G10 Prototype IPrototype II Spring probe
Conductive Silicon Rubber Pad About 30m for 2mm thickness probe pad Conductive Rubber 2~3mm thick ~10m for our probe size
Conformal Coating and Remover Conformal coating Removed coating Conformal coating can be removed by “remover”. Removed coating need to be suck up.
Schedule Prototype I Prototy pe II HV test mounting production shipping Install HV test Production cost : ~ $50k / Station-1 / Arm
Installation Scenario If “clamp” works: – Need Station-1 Scaffold – 1 hour coating removal / octant / man – 2 hours clamp install / gap / octant /man – 1 hour HV test / gap / octant /man – 1 octant/day/2men – 2 weeks + 1 week contingency = 3 total weeks If Station-1 need to be taken out: – 2 ~ 3 months
