Even Though I’m Lavender Activity

Overview Students will fill out a chart listing the names of groups represented by their classmates. This includes races, ethnic backgrounds, genders, religions, age groups, and disabilities. Students will read three different thoughts and discuss questions that go along with them. Each thought begins with: Even though I am lavender…

THOUGHT # 1 Even though I am lavender, and others have been mean to me, I don’t have to be mean to them in return. Instead, I will show them by my actions that I am proud of who I am and of the way I act. Discussion Questions: 1. Do you remember a time when people were mean to you? 2. How could you respond positively to them?

THOUGHT # 2 Even though I am lavender, I don’t make excuses or blame others for who I am. I do my best and take responsibility for my actions. Discussion Questions: 1. Have you made excuses or blamed others before? 2. What could you have done that would have been better?

THOUGHT # 3 People make fun of me and tell me because I’m lavender, I won’t be able to get the job I want. I know that this is not true and I will fulfill my dream if I work hard. Discussion Questions: 1. What do you want to be when you get older? 2. How might you accomplish this?
