Green lines and pink Between 1915 and 1918 Ms. O'Keeffe taught and took clases. She tried abstract art as a means of self expression. This abstract oil on canvas shows Georgia's O'Keeffe's ability to express her self by using bright colors. “I have but one desire as a painter – that is to paint what I see, as I see it, in my own way, without regard for the desires or taste of the professional dealer or the professional collector.” – Georgia O’Keeffe

Horse’s Skull With A White Rose In mid 1930s she visited New Mexico and the region became the expiration for her work. The medium is oil on canvas. She used multiple shades of white to make the skull stand out. She also has a painting called horse with pink rose The reason she painted animal skulls is that she thought they represented the reality and the inter beauty of a thing. She started using the roses by accident when she stuck a artificial flower in a horse skull. She thought it looked pretty.

Jimson Weed White Flower Painted in 1932 with oil on canvas. Flowers were one of her favorite subjects. She saw them as naturally accruing beauty. “When you take a flower in your hand really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else.” Georgia O’Keeffe Sold at action on Nov. 20th, 2014 for 44.4 million. It is the highest price for a painting in history.

What Georgia O’Keeffe Is Trying To Say She wanted to paint what she saw in her own way. She never signed her painting because she thought people would be able to tell it was hers. Her art work is unusual because she wanted people to be surprised. She dressed the same as her art wearing black and white most of the time. Many of her subjects were very simple but very detailed in the way she painted them. “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for”. – Georgia O’Keeffe
